Black Box looks at decentralizing the idea of intelligence and how machines and AI affect interconnected species: nonhumans, multi-species, and humans. Understanding the future of the human species from a post-humanistic perspective. Investigating biological mechanisms of collective organization, root networks, automata, media culture, and philosophical inquiries into the next step of the human timeline. Have we strayed from nature in our god-like quest for higher intelligence for salvation?

Diagrammatic Typeface
To accentuate the systematic, diagrammatic, and interconnected information of research diagram models, I constructed a modular typeface that captured the intellectual graphical communication conveyed within data models. Each letterform houses individual nodes held together by a continuous link to chain an abstraction of thought processes.
II.
Cybernetics
This thesis project was born by examining Cybernetics, the science of communication residing in living organisms and machines alike. Norbert Wiener, the father of cybernetics, theorized that stimulation within our feedback mechanisms through machines was the next step toward what would become artificial intelligence (AI).
